On the Levante side of Benidorm one can find a fantastic nightlife with many discos and night clubs as well as well catered restaurants offering international and local cuisines.
The old town otherwise known as Canfali separates Benidorm’s two semi-circular beaches and possesses an array of shops ideal for all shopa-holics. For those who wish to give their credit cards a rest, the old town also provides beautiful beaches, go-karting, ten-pin bowling or even theme parks such as Aqualand and dolphin show.
Located just north of Benidorm is another resort well worth a visit. Calpeand is a charming little town near Altea which offers peace and tranquillity to those who wish to relax. With an absence of skyscrapers and bustling streets, an invitation lies for those who wish to climb the 257 steps up to the old town for amazing views over the town.
Inland from Benidorm among the mountains is a welcoming sweet smell of wild lavender and herbs. During the months of July and August the rich smell of blackberries brings on the desire for fresh Spanish fruits. The countryside although appears to be plain looking, changes dramatically when you look down to the deep blue sea from the Amadorio Dam, a fishermans favourite near the part of Sella. From here, you can reach the Safari Aitana which is one of the largest safari parks in Europe. Continuing your journey through the countryside, 25km from Benidorm you can visit the famous fortress built by the Moors over 1,200 years ago.
Here at the fortress there is plenty to do. Although access to the fortress is through a 50 foot long tunnel in the rock, after this you can take the road 2.5km to the El Algar Waterfalls where you can spoil yourself to the cold refreshing waters beneath the 80 foot tall falls. In addition, you may also take a donkey ride and explore the surrounding areas. A little further a field is an amazing mountain village called Tarbena which hosts the most amazingly delicious sausages.
This surprisingly short drive from the coast line allows you to experience such a variety of different views, landscapes and cultures. With the option of sea, sand, exploration and waterfalls, this really does make Costa Blanca the perfect destination for any kind of holidays. |
